ABOUT

The People

Siren Arts is a grassroots organization based in Tahoe City whose mission is to create a multi-use community space centered around arts and culture in Tahoe City. Local residents and co-founders Renee Koijane, Abigail Gallup and Christin Hanna have partnered with Robb Olson of Olson-Olson-Ena architecture and planning to realize this vision. Siren Arts seeks to work in concert with local arts and cultural organizations, Artspace, Placer County and private philanthropists, to create an iconic space where locals and visitors may create and celebrate.

Renee Koijane

Renee Koijane has been a resident of Tahoe City since 2001.  With more than 20 years experience in branding and marketing communications, Koijane began her career, after graduating from UCSB, in Silicon Valley working for the high tech industry and Fortune 500 companies.  She's helped launch various start-ups, projects and brands in the San Francisco, Chicago and Reno/Tahoe areas. A long time supporter of the arts and culture, Koijane also served as Executive Director for Squaw Valley Institute, bringing the non-profit back to life by luring heavy hitter thought leaders to the region including Food Inc.'s Joel Salatin, Kiva's Julia Hanna, surfer Bethany Hamilton and education leader Sir Ken Robinson.  Most proudly, she is raising (with her supportive husband), two beautiful boys on the West Shore, while making time to practice her art.

Abigail Gallup

Abigail Gallup is a freelance graphic designer, artist and local arts advocate. After receiving a B.A. in Fine Art from U.C. Berkeley, she moved to Tahoe to snowboard for a while and twenty years later is still here raising a family and working to improve her community. As a graphic designer, she worked as the Art Director for the Tahoe Weekly, marketing director for Oliver Luxury Real Estate. In the arts, she has shown her own artwork locally, been a certified picture framer and most notably worked with North Tahoe Arts, Tahoe City's visual arts non-profit, for nearly five years as Program & Marketing Coordinator. She served on one of the three jury committees selecting the art pieces to be installed in the Kings Beach roundabouts and is a volunteer board member for the Tahoe City Downtown Association.

Christin Hanna

Christin Hanna returned to Lake Tahoe after a busy career as a freelance artist and teacher in New York City. She has danced with an array of companies including Nevada Festival Ballet, Oakland Ballet, Connecticut Ballet, Cincinnati Ballet, and most prominently, Miro Magloire’s New Chamber Ballet, since its inception in 2004. With NCB, she performed in the company's regular seasons at New York’s City Center as well as touring to Cologne, Germany and was featured in a solo performance in the 92nd St Y’s “Fridays At Noon” series and at the Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival.
In 2006, Christin started NCB’s Lake Tahoe Project, an annual workshop and performance in her hometown to educate and enrich area students and audiences to the beauty of live music and dance. In continuation of that mission, she founded Tahoe Youth Ballet to offer the young dancers of her community the chance to work with professional teachers, choreographers, and dancers. The evolution of this mission produced the Lake Tahoe Dance Festival with longtime friend Constantine Baecher and now the Lake Tahoe Dance Collective.
